Meet Ozzie! He Needs Surgery!

I would like to introduce you to OZZIE. A 13lb mixed terrier who has spent his whole life living on the street in homeless encampments. Little Ozzie has suffered a lot of neglect during his 4 years of life. He wasn't really loved as much as he was used to pan handle by his owners for their drug money.

When I met Ozzie he already had a one year old leg injury from being hit by a car. It was dislocated and it was never addressed. Three weeks ago, Ozzie was again hit by another car. The owner did stop and gave his owners $300 to take him to a clinic. However, the owners decided to spend this money on drugs. Little Ozzie laid in his tent suffering great pain for a week before I got him. I took him to the hospital where he was given x-rays and finally pain meds. The x-rays show that the leg is so damaged between the two car hits that it now must be amputated. In addition, he also has 2 fractures in his pelvis, requiring him to crate rest for the next few months but his vet feels the pelvis may heal on its own with bed rest.

I have put out several hundred dollars for Ozzie and do not have any more funds left for the surgery he so badly needs. In the meantime, Ozzie is staying with me and is being kept comfortable. He is also getting regular meals and a warm bed along with lots and lots of love.
