Documentary shooting in Africa
Donation protected
The Mission
In mid-February this year, I'll be partnering up with Marcus Wong and Mwati Tembo as we travel to Africa (Uganda and Ethiopia) to produce four documentaries.
What are we doing
We'll be working with four different organisations telling the stories of the work they're already doing. These organisations include:
Rafiki Africa Ministries - a home for abandoned children
Buwooya Mission School - a primary school in a rural village
EthiopiAid - an organisation trying to end child marriages and genital mutilation
Action Ethiopia - an organisation that works with Ethiopian farmers to defend the border against the Sahara desert
What I'll be doing
- Sound designer and composer on location
- Capturing audio
- First assistant camera operator
- Working with the children's home to help feed, bathe and clothe the children
- Leading devotional times that include music, dance and bible stories
Uganda
Uganda is a tiny, land-locked country in East Africa with over 55 million people. I'll be working in both the capital city Kampala, and a rural fishing village called Buwooya. Uganda is recovering from a dark history after being ruled by dictator Idi Amin, and going through a civil war in the 80s which killed a large portion of the population. These conflicts left the country with the second lowest average age in the world, with 70% of the population aged under 25 years old.
Ethiopia
Ethiopia is the most heavily populated landlocked country in the world with over 108 million people. Ethiopia has the most mountain in Africa, and the region we are travelling to, Afar, has the hottest average temperature at 35 degrees celcius year round. There are many different tribes and languages spoken in Ethiopia, and when travelling rural we will be working with many different people groups in the country.
The Team
Marcus Wong - Film Director and Cinemaphotographer
Myself - Sound Designer and Composer
Mwati Tembo - Photographer and Writer
Where's the money going?
All donations will go towards trip expenses and anything extra will be given to these organisations to aid them in the work they're doing.
Thankyou so much for any donations! Any size helps and it'll all go towards some really great causes. I can't wait to learn about and be apart of the work these organisations are doing and help Marcus tell their stories!
