After being the sole provider for the last 40+ years, a string of unfortunate events have left my Dad unable to practice any longer as a Chiropractor and forced him into an unplanned early retirement. Starting back in Dec. 2010 when his office was connected to a building that had a natural gas explosion (killing 2 people and injuring several more) to a fire in 2013, he was left without an X-ray machine that produced 80% of his income. Even with insurance, he never recouped half of what he was owed and left him unable to take care of his patients completely.
Recently, his health took a turn for the worst, and he has been hospitalized for the last 3 weeks. He was rushed into ER, with a “life threatening” infection. Not knowing he was a diabetic and then later finding out he also has leukemia, caused the infection to escalate very quickly. Both of these diseases work against him and lower his ability to fight off the infection that he has. My dad has had 7 surgeries in 21 days, with several more in the next few weeks and coming months.
This extensive recovery time that doctors anticipate to be at least 12 months, has led us to reach out and ask for your help. For those of you that know my Dad know that his sense of humor, energy and contagious personality has always left a lasting impression on everyone he meets. Taking care of his patients and getting everyone feeling back to normal has always been his number one priority and now it’s our turn to get him back on his feet.
