On June 15, 2018, Maddie had her first craniotomy, where doctors discovered that Maddie has a brain tumor. It was later discovered to be a glioblastoma multiforme grade 4 brain tumor. Maddie had a second brain surgery on June 26, 2018.
Then, she completed 6 weeks of radiation therapy on August 17, 2018. Maddie’s two younger siblings, Mikey and Meredith, were two of her biggest supporters during that time.
Maddie underwent a third brain surgery on September 19, 2018, where doctors removed spots that appeared to be resistant to radiation treatment. On September 28, 2018, Maddie started chemotherapy. She has been experiencing the typical side effects of chemo, but through it all, she has amazed us with her bravery, courage, and positive attitude. She is a true inspiration!
