This scholarship is in honor of my son Chandler Sweaney and his quest to Do Better and Be Better everyday. He was taken way too soon in the flesh, but lives on in spirit in each of us. 100% of the profit will go toward the current Do Better Be Better scholarship. The scholarship will be funded annually to 1 band student and 1choir student at the highschool Chandler graduated from. Chandler loved music and played tuba in the band and sang in the chamber choir. In future years we will be setting up a more formal foundation and we would love to some day be able to fund scholarships to every school in the area. The recipient will receive it based on minimum grade criteria, recommendations and they must submit to the board selecting an essay or video on what De Better Be Better means to them and what the scholarship will be funding. The scholarship will allow for unconventional recipients. College, Vocational or Trade schools to learn a trade or pay to take their real estate exam (Chandler was a new real estate agent when he passed). It is designed to support any young student that is living their life and has goals to make a positive impact in the world. I have had the opportunity to meet so many young men and women who were friends with Chandler as well I go out of my way to interact with our younger generation. I am encouraged by their resilience and compassion. They are all smarter than we sometimes give them credit for and have great ideas of how to move this world in a better direction.

The first recipient was Braden Mustion, given in the Spring of 2021, funded by Jimm's Steakhouse (Chandler worked there from age 16 ) He is currently a freshman at MU and plays drums in the Mizzou band. Branden is committed to doing his best to honor Chandler's memory in everything he does.

This is Chandler his senior year. I took both of these the last performance of the year for both band and choir.
