Scam Recovery

Hello, my name is Aaron Lerman. I am a 23-year-old college student, attending Fitchburg State University in MA. Before yesterday, I was very proud of my savings and had a comprehensive plan for how to pay for both college and my bills. I had even planned to pay for college out of pocket this semester. But yesterday, my life's work was stolen from me.

Yesterday a little after 11 am, I was called by a man claiming to be a police officer. I was told I was being investigated for identity theft. In reality, he was the thief.

Through a long and painful series of events over the next few hours, I was tricked into letting a scammer take approximately 9,900 dollars of my money. That represents most of my life savings. I am currently unemployed, with no unemployment, and bills to pay.

I still have enough money to survive, and should I find a job, I know I can recover from this. But right now, I am terrified and demoralized beyond belief. I can barely get out of bed, I feel so stupid, so guilty, so much coulda shoulda woulda...

I've been talked into making this gofundme account by my counselors, in hopes of getting some help from generous strangers. In truth, I feel guilty asking for handouts, for begging... But any donation, no matter how small, will no doubt help secure the future I had planned for myself before this tragedy. In the event I am able to recover the money stolen, I will immediately close this account and attempt to refund any money given. Thank you all for your time and generosity.
