Launch the DMV Hip-Hop Orchestra

The DMV Hip-Hop Orchestra just broke an attendance record at the National Arboretum after our 2nd Kennedy Center appearance, receiving enough votes to compete in Brooklyn for AFROPUNK, winning another competition to open for T-Pain, and generally 6 years of continuing growth. We're now raising $40,000 to create the infrastructure we need to preserve our unique position as an independent DMV orchestra rooted in Hip-Hop culture.

We're launching October 11th, 7pm-9pm at Mindspace (1301 K St NW, Washington, DC 20071) thanks to the open minds of Heartcast Media (LOVE YALL). I wanted to bring together everyone who's supported over the years SO, we'll be rocking with Whitman Walker Health, the Red Dot Campaign, Words Beats & Life, All Terp Everything, Newbrxnd, FRNVR, One Love Massive, Box Era, the Vibe Room Magazine, Dungeons & Backwoods, and Colorstory Magazine with more incoming.

The DMV Hip-Hop Orchestra forged a community at the intersection of varying cultures, ethnicities, races, religions and genders who share a common mission - to create. This fundraiser will permit us to hire the team who will protect and develop our creative family into a sustainable source of DMV creative infrastructure dedicated to artists of all genres and disciplines as a commissioned sonic super suit, a new space to try new ideas from an entirely different perspective, and many more endless possibilities. This team includes an attorney, manager, and booking agent who will alter our trajectory from only performing via invitation to actively seeking out performance opportunities. They'll be protecting new investments in a temporary rehearsal space, audio equipment to relieve pressure from venues not used to performance groups of our size, and the beginnings of an investment in a physical space that will bring to life the cultural intersection at which we've thrived so that others will learn the benefits of, and flourish while, creating in an intersectional environment.

Our momentum is built. We need your help making sure we can carry that energy to the next level of active success instead of passive accomplishments.
