Calling all friends and supporters of DMDS!
As you are aware, our amazing production of Anything Goes had to drop anchor after two shows due to the Government’s decision to cancel all public gatherings amid the current COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. You possibly had a ticket booked for one of the four remaining shows that never made it to the stage...
Not only is the cancellation a massive disappointment for all involved but it’s also a major financial challenge for our the society to overcome.
The show was projected to cost €45,000 with the revenue to fund it coming from seat sales as well as programme and raffle ticket sales. The last four shows, which were cancelled, were sell-outs. Even without these shows, DMDS must still honour fees and costs owed to the production team, the professionals, the technical crew, the band, costume hire, hair and make up as well as theatre hire, the list goes on.
These fixed costs will in no way be matched by the income received for the opening nights of the show, and we currently anticipate a deficit of at least €30,000.
This is a figure that could threaten the future existence of DMDS which was founded in 1960.
The Pavilion Theatre is currently refunding all tickets booked for our final four shows.
In order to help secure the future of DMDS and keep Dun Laoighre’s premier musical society afloat, we are asking friends and family to consider donating the value of their refunded tickets to this gofundme page.
