July 24, 2014 started out as any other day does. Beau was outside playing with his brother and his cousins, when an ordinary event turned dismal. Beau was riding his bike when the day took a turn for the worse. He fell, the handle bars hitting him in the abdomen. No big deal, right? Kids fall. Boys will be boys. Wrong. Beau became lethargic and nauseated. He complained of belly pain and Kirsten rushed him to the emergency room at St. Margaret's. It was worse than we could have imagined. Words like internal bleeding had us all in a haze. Beau's pancreas had been lacerated. He was transported to Hope childrens hospital, a part of Christ. His tiny body forced to endure countless tests, medicines like morphine, a picc line, surgery to drain a compound cyst formed from the injury, and a feeding tube placed to give beau the nutrients needed to thrive. It has been one month and three days since Beau has eaten. But most of you know those details. What many of you might not know is, Kirsten has never left his side. For over a month, she hasnt left the hospital, slept peacefully, been with her other son, Noah, or worked. That's why I've created this page. Kirsten has not worked in over a month. She is a single mother of two boys. Two boys who both needed school supplies, clothes, food and a home over this 4 week span. Times are hard for everyone these days, and you can imagine the detriment of such an unforeseen event. Any small amount can help. You would have our undying gratitude and we promise to pay it forward in any way we can. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read this.
