'Super' Meyer P. McDaniel

Donation protected

Meyer Preston McDaniel, we are calling him Super Meyer, was born on July 23, 2014 with a devastating heart condition. Meyer is such a strong baby. He has already undergone three open-heart surgeries and countless procedures in his first month with us. He opens his beautiful eyes every day to let us know he is staying strong and fighting. Meyer has amazing parents, Joey and Sara, who are being equally as strong for him. Meyer is surrounded everyday by his amazingly supportive family who make sure he knows how loved he is.

Meyer was born with a condition called Transposition of the Greater Arteries, requiring open-heart surgery at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville, KY. Due to unforeseen issues and complications, it has become three open-heart surgeries. Super Meyer continues to battle complications that require him to be on various machines to help support his heart while he heals. This status changes day-to-day, so we will keep everyone updated.

As anyone could expect, Joey and Sara are unable to work at their jobs in Lexington while they remain at Meyer’s side. They have had support from close friends and family thus far; but as the time in the hospital increases, so does the financial burden. We are so blessed to have the amazing support from family and friends; your love and thoughts have truly been felt. If you are able and want to, please help Joey and Sara by taking their mind off the hindrances of the growing medical bills and associated expenses, so they can focus on staying strong for Meyer and can get him home. Anything helps and is greatly appreciated. Meyer’s amount of time in the hospital, and Joey and Sara’s time away from their jobs are still unknown, so we are starting with a goal of $20,000. Anything not used will be donated to congenital heart defect research and the Ronald McDonald’s House, where they have been staying in Louisville.

Though the operations haven’t gone the way everyone hoped, we are inspired daily by Meyer’s strength and determination to get better. This is without a doubt the most difficult thing my family has gone through; however, we have been blessed and joyfully overwhelmed by the love and support Meyer has received from family, friends and even friends of friends. We thank everyone for their continued prayers, positive thinking, and loving support in this difficult time.
