Of all the people I have met in my life Miss Suzy stands as a ray of sunshine for all who have the pleasure to meet her. She is a remarkable woman who will put the needs of others before her own. Suzy is known througout the area for her community outreach childrens programs with the Public Library. A favorite quote of hers is a line from Dr. Seuss: 'Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.'
I have known her since I was 4 or 5 and she has been my mentor and friend these 20 years since. This Dear friend of mine has fallen on hard times recently and while we all have our ups and downs it has mainly been of the down varity. Between the medical costs from her stroke last year, her herniated disc, a gangrenous gallbladder, her daughter's Vagus Nerve Stimulation surgery (VNS) for epilepsy, and the fact that her husband was forced into an early retierment due to the rods he had to have placed in his back due to a rupsured disc. All with in the span of about 2 years.

This list alone would normaly bow the back of the most upbeat person. But not Suzy. She would come around the corner with a smile and a new joke to entertain you with or talk about a new childrens project she would be planning.
Two days ago the smile was gone.
The slight laugh that was part her her talk was missing.
Where was my SUZY!?!
After a moment she relayed what happened over the weekend.
A little backstory is necessary here: Her daughter had come down from New York (Fort Drum in Watertown) for the past 6 months to be in Valdosta to have her baby while her husband (Suzy's son-in-law) was deployed. She had a beautiful, healthy little boy. To help her daughter out, Suzy drove her back home to New York and spent 3 weeks there to help her daughter get settled. While she was away her husband was home.
The medical bills from earlier were taking their toll on the family's finances. When bills pile up to the point of scraping by on a day to day basis it is hard to bear. Her husband could not take it and left. No note, no call, just gone. She came home to an empty house, an empty bank account, and an empty heart. The only call she received was from the back informing her of all of the overdrafts that occured in her absence.
While she is not the only one that this has happened to, she is a person that has garnered the love and respect of those around her and has touched the lives of tens of thousands of children and parents over the years and it would be a shame to lose some one of such light to the shadows of loss. The Fund will go to her house payment (so she will not lose her home) and to pay her outstanding medical bills so we can get her on track.
Please help me Save Suzy!
