Friends, Peers, and Family.. On the day of April 24th, our beloved Jorge B. Contreras woke up with a blister on his foot. This wasn't just your typical blister.. This one looked angry and infected so he went to the doctor and was then told to head to the ER immediately.
He was then diagnosed with Strep which is a fast moving bacterial infection that spreads rapidly. It had spread so fast that it had gotten to his two toes and gangrene was setting in. He then had an operation to remove the 2 small toes the next day.
After his amputation, the surgeon told him the area was left open and a second surgery would be on Monday (4/28) to make sure that all the bacteria was removed.
On Monday, he had his second surgery. It didn’t look good. The bacteria was on his 3rd toe. Jorge now had to make a tough decision. Remove 3rd in hopes no more infection would set in or remove the remaining 3 toes to eliminate any chance for bacterial growth. He opted to have all my toes amputated. Which occurred on 5/3.
He is now bedridden for 8 weeks and CAN NOT be on his feet or work. I am starting this go fund me in hopes to help him with medical bills and/or groceries while he is out of commission. Think about this for a second... What if this happened to you and you had to have ALL of your toes removed within a span of 24-48 hours?! I personally can not imagine and Jorge has a long road ahead of him. Whatever you can donate will help immensely. Thank you so much!
