On the 12th of this month our poor girl ended up in the Vet ER for having multiple seizures throughout the day, they kept her for several hours running all kinds of tests including urinalysis and blood work as well as checking her vitals. They finally discharged her with no diagnosis other than a UTI, and saying she showed no signs of further seizure activity. The next morning I woke up to her seizing next to me, so we immediately rushed her back demanding answers. They kept her under observation for 2 nights, during that time they insisted on a CT scan, X-Rays, and more blood work. Everything came back normal so we went ahead and scheduled an MRI for that Thursday morning, which came back showing part of her skull didn't close properly resulting in brain tissue poking out putting pressure on the temporal lobe. Luckily they say that surgery is not needed, but with everything else being ruled out they are calling this idiopathic epilepsy. She will be able to live a full and happy life with this condition, thank goodness!!
Due to an unexpected out of town emergency, Dixie and I had to stay with a relative Sunday night, where she somehow got into an insane amount of popcorn kernels. As expected, she had a tummy ache and didn't want to eat or drink. I kept an eye on her, but finally last night, after she hadn't eaten or drank water in 2 days and spent those entire 2 days sleeping, i was concerned enough to take her back to the Vet. I was worried of dehydration and bowel obstruction. They gave her fluids and medication to help speed things along and she should hopefully feel better in a day or two.... unfortunately with all this happening in just a few short weeks, and the cost of vets being so high, we are around 4 grand out of pocket. I would never ask for help unless we really needed it, and in this case we really could use it. We are stressed and hoping any of our wonderful family or friends, or even a kind stranger could even so much as share this to get our story out. No donation is too small and anything helps. We appreciate every one of you who took the time to read this ❤
