After years of collaborating and strategizing, my dear friend and I have finally decided to officially start our own business!
We have teamed up to form Dissertation Decoded, a premier educational consulting firm that helps doctoral students deconstruct the complex dissertation process and coach them from coursework to graduation. I (Dr. Rashidah Andrews) provides the direct coaching services, while my partner (David L. Smith) offers expertise in business strategy and capacity building.
According to the most recent graduate enrollment data, there were over 76,000 doctoral degrees awarded in 2015 - 38,933 to women (52%) and 36,296% to men (48%) - and despite the outstanding accomplishments made by individuals, minority groups in general still remain severely underrepresented amongst those doctoral degrees earned. It is our vision that with the appropriate support and network of partners, we can increase those rates and help more scholars navigate the process successfully.
After investing over $3,000 and 9 months of business planning, we would like to continue with your support in helping us reach a goal of raising at least $8,000 by August 31, 2017. If you cannot make a contribution before August 31, please don't worry, our campaign will remain open indefinitely.
These funds will cover costs for the following:
- Website expansion & maintenance
- Accounting & legal support
- Additional program & instructional resources

As you can see above, we help clients of all ages at various stages in their academic journey. Approximately one-third have been enrolled in their programs for 7 years or more, and the vast majority have little or no access to support services within their institutions. We can help!
In addition to seeking your financial contribution, we are asking that you help us spread the word about Dissertation Decoded. We are accepting new clients now and seeking additional Decoders (dissertation coaches) to work with us. If you know of someone who has already earned their doctorate and is willing to provide Dissertation Decoded coaching services, please send them our way!
