The beginning of one’s professional career is never easy. For dancers, the profession requires years of dedication and determination. Over the past 8 months, dancers have been displaced from their studios and stages. The ongoing cancellation of live performances has resulted in fewer dance jobs, salary cuts, layoffs, and scarce audition opportunities. For pre-professional dancers, it is harder than ever before to break into the professional industry.
Inspired by the dance community's ability to adapt, innovate, and persevere during COVID-19, I created the DiscoverMe Dance Virtual Showcase as my senior capstone project at Drexel University. This free competition will highlight new talent and offer an opportunity for pre-professional dancers to share their work with the world. The money raised from the DiscoverMe Dance Scholarship Fund will be awarded to the winners of the showcase. The winners will be chosen by a panel of professional judges including, New York City Ballet corps member Victor Abreu, Drexel University's Dance Program Director Sandra Parks, and esteemed hip hop dancer Clyde Evans, Jr.
Your donation will help support promising dancers' training and dance-related expenses during this pivotal time in their young careers. Even the smallest donation can add up to help a talented dancer achieve their dream.
