In 2016 my family moved to Cypress Park after being displaced from Koreatown, and things have not been easy. It was our first time living in a house instead of an apartment. We ended up converting one of the rooms downstairs into a bedroom for my mom and my brother to share and renting 2 of our upstairs bedrooms.
My mom's health has been rapdily declining; she was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, and PTSD shortly before we moved. The constant stress gives her flares of pain that last up to weeks at a time. during these episodes, I fully dedicate myself to taking care of her, as we do not have the funds for any professional caretaking services
My brother was shot 4 times in March of 2018, and suffered a skull fracture in December the same year. It's a miracle he's with us
He is currently incarcerated and waiting to serve a 2 year prison sentence. We spend at least $200 a month just paying to speak on the phone, even more when we put money down for his commissary
My sister was working 2 jobs for well over two years; she lost all forms of employment during the pandemic and it is now up to me to pay well over $700 in bills that she was able to take care of before
Ever since the pandemic fully set in, this campaign has been the main source of income for my whole family: a total of 5 people
