Hi everyone, my name is Dillon Corey. I'm also known by some people on YouTube as ShutUpBrick.
I usually pride myself as a smart independent person that can take care of himself. However, I've realized I need to ask for help to pay off medical bills and cover the cost of a surgery I greatly need. This is definitely not an easy thing for me to do.
Read on if you want to know more about why I have to ask.
Firstly, it's been a difficult past few years, as I have struggled with depression and have had a host of physical medical issues. This includes a rare ankle condition called an equinus contracture (which required two surgeries to fix) as well as intense migraines that have left me in the ER.
Unfortunately, I also had to have all my teeth replaced a couple years ago due to a condition that left my teeth very soft and deteriorating. I got full dentures at just age 18. My multiple surgeries, and visits to the ER, have left me and my family very financially depleted and have directly impacted my ability to hold a job. Though insurance has helped cover a good amount, I have still had to pay thousands out of pocket.
Now I am still left with medical bills I have to pay, as well as a need for another surgery. This surgery involves having my dentures securely fitted into my mouth with metal implants. Without the surgery, my jawbone will continue to deteriorate, causing me physical pain and negatively affecting my appearance for life. It is a surgery I have put off for a over a year due to insufficient funds. This is why I have decided to set up a GoFundMe.
The goal I set should cover most of my denture implant surgery, and possibly some of my current medical bills. I don't expect to meet the goal, but if enough is contributed to at least pay off my outstanding medical bills, I will be eternally grateful.
I may be asked, “Don’t you make money off Youtube," or “Why don’t you just get a job?” I want to say that though I love doing YouTube (and I try to put as much effort and creativity I can do my videos), I am not a big enough creator and can't cover much of my expenses from it. In addition, I have had a job lined up for a few months now. Even when I start working though, my paycheck will be largely going to my parents for my old medical bills.
