Dignity & Poise

Donation protected
Most teenage girls growing up have the universal access to menstrual sanitary pads, products sometimes undervalued by all of us in our daily life. Unfortunately the harsh reality for most of the young girls at a school in Atlantis township near Cape Town is that they don’t have the same luck. Meeting the issue to afford sanitary products each month takes away confidence, dignity and self-worth from girls of this age. Not being able to use sanitary products, girls put their education, well-being and health at risk. They turn to other unsafe options such as leaves, paper, feathers, rags. Unfortunately the issue keeps girls out of school for days, ruining girls’ dreams for a brighter future. Later in life, girls are less likely to find a job contributing to another major problem South African community meets - unemployment. As of 2019, 29% of people in the country were unemployed,  burdening economical growth.

We are an international group of active and enthusiastic students at Rotterdam Business School with our dedicated leader Tanya Dimitrova. All of us are second-year students studying International Business and Management, passionate for
travelling, meeting and exploring. We partnered up with Out of Africa Children’s Foundation to help these bright-minded girls. The South African NGO is the one dedicated to help the girls in this project and assures that they receive the monthly sanitary supplies.

In February, 2020 our group visited the schools and met these special young girls. We could have direct contact with them and researched on what kind of sanitary products they prefer, the problems they meet and how we could be in help. We donated 800 packs of sanitary pads, 2 packs for each girl at the school. They seemed so purely thankful and relieved that they didn’t have to meet the same issue for once. The smiles on their faces - radiant.

Our current goal is to provide them each month with 405 sanitary pads - 2 packs per each girl. Therefore, we aim to raise €717 (=$779) each month. We genuinely believe that with your help together we would be able to contribute. Every dollar counts for helping a young girl go to school confident, empowered and beautiful! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your contribution!
