Our Mom, Diane Lonsway, began to feel tired and had noticed a lump on her armpit in 2014. She assumed it was nothing until a routine chest x-ray first picked up on the enlarged lymph nodes. This led to a series of PET scans, labs, biopsies, and multiple consults with physicians until a definitive diagnosis of lymphoma was made at the end of 2015.
The cancer remained stable and was monitored closely until the end of 2017 when her latest round of scans showed changes that would require chemotherapy treatments. Her chemo regime began at the end of December. This involves 8-12 cycles of treatment. Each cycle costs an average of $12,000.
With each appointment, procedure, & treatment comes a cost, a cost that she couldn't prepare for. She is fortunate to have medical insurance but it has a very high deductible and her expenses have added up very quickly. She is still paying bills from 2015-2017 and the 2018 deductible bills will be arriving soon. One chemo treatment will put her over her $6500 deductible. To add to her stress, she was fired from her job in November when she let the dentists know that she would need time off for chemo and appointments.
Our mom is not the type to ask for help from others but she needs it. Whether it's prayer, reaching out, or helping offset costs associated with her treatment, we are thankful for any and all of the support we will receive.
Our goal is to help offset her current expenses and the bills from the past years that she is already paying.
