Diagnosis and Care for Jaspurr

Jaspurr was rescued along with his siblings from the woods on DCR property 11 years ago.  I’ve rescued many many cats and a few dogs in my lifetime and this litter was my foster fail.  I kept 3 of 5 kittens.  Jaspurr, Gizmo and KoKo.  We lost Gizmo at the age of 9 to Kidney disease and other complications as a result of his condition.  (I still mourn for him.)  

Jaspurr developed diabetes a couple of years ago and through close work with my vet, we’ve keep it pretty well controlled although he has had pancreatitis flare ups this past year.  For the past month or so, thinking we were treating another flair up, he’s been good some days and not so much on others.  Jaspurr stopped eating normally on his own about 4 weeks ago.  He’d act all excited to get his food, maybe have a little then walk away.  Appetite stimulant and anti nausea meds and IV fluids have helped but I’ve now been feeding him by syringe for the last week.  We noticed he started  making this noise like a little moan telling us he was uncomfortable.  Being in constant contact with our vet, the symptoms still indicated it was a severe case of pancreatitis, more meds were prescribed and in constant prayer I had hoped he’d start to improve.  Well, this Saturday (Jan 4th) came and he was no better.. and back to the vet, they did another full exam including X-rays this time.. and there was the problem.. a pocket of air.  The initial thought was he has a diaphragmatic hernia.  With some help, off we went from central MA to Manchester, NH for an ultrasound.    thankfully the diaphragmatic hernia was ruled out but it’s still undiagnosed and very serious.  This little guy is such a fighter and deserves a chance.  He shows interest in eating, grooms himself after I feed him by syringe,  uses his scratching post, cuddles with me and still wants to be on his perch behaving like a cat should.   Not knowing what it’s going to cost, I’ve been told it most likely will be a lot.  There is still further diagnosis, potential surgery and treatment.  I assure you also that if after diagnosis surgery is not an option, all donations will go to help other pets in need.   We would be forever grateful for help to get him through this.♥️  Please share this page freely.
