Diabetic Mastopathy Fund for Bethany

Donation protected
My best friend, Bethany, is 30 years old and has been type 1 diabetic for 27 years. At the age of 3, she fell very ill and after tests, was diagnosed. After trips to Sacramento for doctors appointments, tens of thousands of shots and finger pricks over the 27 years, changes in what could and could not be eaten, and changes in insulins, she has now been diagnosed with diabetic mastopathy, something we have never heard of in the 27 years of dealing with this disease. Diabetic mastopathy looks much like breast cancer but without the cancer. After having a lump checked in March, it has now doubled in size and many more lumps have shown. She is now needing a double mastectomy at the age of 30 to remove these lumps in case of cancer and it’s the only way to get rid of the lumps for good. On top of that, the company that makes her insulin pump has now stopped and she is now needing a new pump. Insurance sees insulin as a way of taking care of diabetes so does not cover all of the extras very well and we’re waiting to see if it’ll even cover her upcoming surgeries. She has been very open with sharing her story as she would like for many other type 1 diabetics to be aware of what can happen and has been so positive through this news and throughout the 27 years always trying to turn a negative into a positive. As hard as it is, here she is having to do that again. Bethany has always been the girl who has a smile on her face. Even when she is having a very low day, she’s smiling and asking everyone else how they are doing. I have gone to the hospital to be there with her multiple times, and even through that, she is the strongest person I know. She takes care of me, her family, and her squirrels she rehabilitates and cares for! She needs someone to take care of her. If anyone deserves some help, she is the one. We’re asking for your help in bringing some sunshine into her life as it has become very dark place.

She is now now ready for her surgery to remove the masses from the Diabetic Mastopathy.... her surgery was scheduled for February 18... the anesthesiologist cancelled the surgery because of her pump... even though her doctor and surgeon had a thought out medical plan for it. She has another surgery on the 13th or March in Mercy.... which is now costing and extra $2,000 that insurance won’t cover. Her and her grandma have already put forth $6,000 on the surgery that was cancelled in a private hospital... And now are putting over $2,000 for the new surgery scheduled at Mercy on the 13th of March. And then they still have costs covered for the second surgery after the remove the masses that will be scheduled for 6 months after this surgery. This is too much for their incomes. And all I can do is create this go fund me and wish for the best.

She deserves the world.
