Korey's Medical Treatment

Korey Wallace was recently diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer, with, in addition to a long struggle with congenital disorders has made it difficult to pay for medical care and day to day expenses. The diagnosis is miloprolifitive disorder with a subset of essential thrombocytosis. His blood platelets get really high and he's in constant risk of stroke and heart attack. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy and it's taking its tole. He and his father Jim hope to recieve treatment in conjunction with the chemo which will make it possible for him to function while they fight the cancer. Some of these treatments are unconventional and will not be covered by insurance. We also hope to provide money for his basic needs as he's unable to work.
Korey has a verve for exploring the possibilities that life has for him. It pains us to see these ambitions halted or delayed. He hopes to travel to Japan where he can visit the Buddhist Shrines in Kyoto. He likes that they've been created as a safekeeping of sacred objects. He's building up his life now with this intention in mind. To be a keeper of the sacred. He loves to read. Some of his favorites verge on the morbid but one of his most beloved is Walt Whitman. Dear Walt said "To me, every hour of the day and night is an unspeakably perfect miracle."
We're setting up this page in order to relieve some of the burden and stress that necessarily comes with such a dire diagnosis. We hope to take away just a little of the unkown from his life, like how his electric bill will be paid. It's our hope that the support from our community will be a boon to his recovery and a loving gesture of support.
