Medical recovery and assistance for Dominique.

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

Putting in a request for assistance for our friend and colleague Dominique who is going through a really rough time. Sharing her story with her express permission:

Her road hasn’t been the easiest. She has been independent from a young age, having lost her immediate family as a child. She says she has the best job in the world; having been an Ambulance Dispatcher for several years now, she didn’t ever expect to be on the other side of the emergency.

In October 2019, an ultrasound found adhesions and masses on her ovaries, and she was told they thought she had Endometriosis. Her health declined rapidly in the spring of June 2020, and she was rushed through for emergency surgery that month. The Laparoscopic operation two years ago removed it all by excision and ablation, and while her ovaries were damaged, Dominique was able to keep her reproductive system. Biopsies confirmed Stage 3 Endometriosis. An enigmatic, aggressive, and incurable disease. She tried a dozen medications and other things to keep it from returning, but unfortunately, she wasn’t so lucky. It’s back, Stage 4 now, and she falls into the 1% of women with this severity of the disease. Her ovary is tethered to her colon and there are masses on both. There are risks for her bladder, kidneys, and colon, to name a few. In the first Lap they found Endo everywhere, up to and including her diaphragm.

Unfortunately, her only treatment option now is a radical, complete hysterectomy with bilateral oophorectomy (uterus, tubes, ovaries, cervix.. the whole system out). At 33 years old, she never expected to go into surgically induced menopause or be facing this kind of operation. Her Surgery is on October 6th.

Any help to support the long road of physical recovery, psychological support, physiotherapy, bills and rent ahead would be greatly appreciated to assist with lost wages and the unknowns of long-term insurance etc.

As ambulance dispatchers, we are very much used to receiving calls for help, and Dominique had a really hard time asking. Let’s take care of someone whose job is to help take care of others 
