Nicole Edwards DeVincentis Memorial Fund
The family and friends of Nicole Edwards have suffered the tragic loss of her bright and shining spirit. She was a devoted mother, wife and a loving and loyal friend.
Nicole's Story
After a night of trick or treating with her two sons, Hunter, age 2, and Sheldon, age 12, Nicole returned to the house to rest as she hadn't been feeling well for several days. At 40-years old, Nicole thought she would just "push through." As many mothers know, there is never enough time to rest and focus on oneself. Unfortunately, Nicole collapsed shortly after returning home Halloween night, was rushed to a nearby hospital and passed away from suspected heart failure.
More than anything, Nicole loved her family. She loved her husband and best friend, Shawn DeVincentis; her son Sheldon, who is one of the sweetest young men I know; and her son Hunter who is a pure bundle of joy. Hunter officially turned 2 just two days after Nicole's death.
At the time of Nicole's death, she was working as an aftercare teacher at St. James-St. John School in New Bedford.
Unanticipated Expenses
Nicole's family is left with more than just heartache and disbelief. There are many unanticipated expenses associated with losing a loved one. In addition to funeral expenses, Shawn will now need to find full-time daycare for Hunter before he can return to work. An average funeral can cost $7,000-$10,000 and daycare can easily cost $100/day.
Any money raised over and above immediate expenses will be put aside for the Sheldon and Hunter DeVincentis Educational Fund.
