Developing Young Leaders of Tomorrow, Today (DYLOTT) is a black focused leadership Incubator program based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The founder of the DYLOTT is Candies Kotchapaw, a community leader and social worker. Our non-profit organization’s primary focus is to change the socio-economic outlook for our marginalized community. Our vision is to eradicate illiteracy (e.g. coding and computational, financial, civic, and ethical) in all forms for youth and young people from the Black community through education.
The DYLOTT has four programs; the Model United Nations Program (for youth ages 14-19), Girls’ Program (for girls ages 9-14), Young Professionals Program (attendees ages 19-35) and the Young Diplomats Program (youth ages 14-19).
The Future We Want Model United Nations will host a 5-day exclusive Professional Certificate in New York City, August 5-9, 2019. The program is aimed to share and generate expertise on World Politics, International Relations, and the United Nations System.
Six members of our Young Diplomats and Young Professionals programs will be participating as delegates of the United Nations training and need your financial support! The DYLOTT has successfully covered the event’s registration costs but currently is seeking financial support for travel and accommodation costs.
The theme is “World Politics & International Negotiation”. The program starts with 3 days of intensive training, led by UN Officials and experts, followed by a 2-day MUN simulation.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the United Nations Organization, the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda, Negotiation Skills, Public Speaking and Leadership, all while engaging in several learning activities to best prepare for the 2-day MUN simulation.
With the funds graciously given, delegates will reinvest that knowledge in the community at the DYLOTT’s upcoming “Mentoring for Major Impact” closing ceremony on July 27th 2019. Follow our Twitter page to stay tuned for further details on this upcoming ceremony.
Shirley Christholm (an African-American politician, author, educator and activist) once said “If they don't give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” This speaks to the need to get resourceful and chase after opportunities, despite oppression and lack of resources. We want to use this forum to achieve financial support from our community. Thank you for supporting our interest in “Educating, Creating and Building a Lasting Legacy”!
