Devastated by Cancer & Hurricane

Donation protected

My life in  has been turned upside down in an instant.

My full name is Jill Irizzary Rodriguez Duffy.

I am a hard working Puerto Rican American artist recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I can not return to my home, loved ones or  ravaged island for   surgery or the necessary   radiation treatments.

. My island has been devastated and I can not add to an already completely over burdened island or  hospital system. It would mean food and water for one more person.  It will mean months away from home.

Anyone that knows me also knows that I never ask for anything and how hard I work for myself and my community.

But I am running out of funds (almost on 0) and the tourist season to sell my art is still months away if at all.

I still do not even know yet if my small apartment and work studio are still standing. Whether my old ford escort survived. Or if any of my paintings for sale there still exist.

I do not have enough means to stay in NY without help.

Attached under updates are photos of the 4 large paintings I have been able to create between medical visits.
They are for sale as well as even small cash donations sincerely  appreciated.
More art can be seen at jilloart on fb.
If you are interested in a piece of art I can also be contacted there as well.
Buying a painting would be just as helpful as a donation and yet get a beautiful piece of handmade art !

I already need money for the things not covered by my medical insurance as well as Co-payments on medications

I will need money for food as I do not qualify for assistance here in NY as I am a resident of Puerto Rico
.
I have a coat but no warm boots, no warm pajamas, no fuzzy slippers, no warm socks, pants and only one thin summer sweater.
I will also need new bras after surgery and probably even underwear after the weight loss associated with cancer.

I will need approx $75-$100  per week just  for gas for 10 weeks.

I will need to keep my Web up so I can continue to work and pull myself up by my boot straps.

I was fortunate enough to be lent a car but I will have to provide maintainance and gasoline to go to Winthrop Hospital everyday for weeks end. I will probably need new brakes.

It is quite far from where I live.
Most of my support network have suffered  in the storm and would not be able to assist financially.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
