Devastating Fire Claimed Family Home and Business

In the early morning hours of August 6,2021, the DeMarino family home was completely destroyed by a fire. The home is shared by Marine vet Ron, Josh, Yvonne, River (their 6 month old son) and cat, Monster. Josh, Yvonne, their 6 month old son and cat were visiting family in Virginia. Ron was the only occupant home at the time of the fire. He was able to escape the burning home quickly and unharmed.

The fire started on the screened-in porch and quickly ravished the home. A neighbor spotted the fire and called 911. Within minutes, the fire had quickly spread to both floors. Thankfully, Josh, Yvonne, their son and cat were not home. The outcome could have been much worse as their bedroom that they share with their son, is located directly above the porch. Over 40 firefighters from Anne Arundel, Annapolis and Naval Support fire departments extinguished the fire within 30 minutes, but stayed onsite for over 3 hours.

The entire home and all of their possessions, are gone. The couple have an art studio as well. Personal belongings, clothes, nursery, baby items and art studio, are all gone.

There is so much to do, it’s overwhelming to know where to start… They are grieving the loss of their home, and trying to imagine the steps forward. They are beyond grateful for our community- many have already stepped forward with love and generosity.
