Summer Program at Johns Hopkins!

My name is Destiny Sliter and I am a sophomore biology student at Eastern Kentucky University. I currently hold a 3.2 GPA and my particular interest is in medicine, as I plan to attend graduate school to become a Physician Assistant. With these goals in mind, I applied to several intership and educational opportunties for the upcoming Summer of 2017, including the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine 2017 Summer Institute for Anatomy. Although I assumed it was unlikely that I would be accepted into such a competitive program, I was thrilled to learn that I was selected to particpate.
Although I have received financial aid during my studies at EKU, all costs to attend the Johns Hopkins University Summer Institute of Anatomy will be paid out of pocket and I am asking for your help. Attending this progam at Johns Hopkins University will be an incredibly valuable and educational experience at a world class univerisity and will allow me to earn 4 college credit hours. The hands-on experience I will gain from participating in this cadaver-based program is far superior to the replicas and models typically used at my home institution. In addition to studies with real cadaver bodies, the program also includes surgical observation which will be a valuable experience as I work toward my Masters Degree in PA Studies.
Hailing from a small community in Southeastern Kentucky, being accepted into this program is a tremendous honor. I look forward to bringing the skills I learn from this experience back to my community and my future career as a physician assistant.
The costs for this program include:
Tuition: $4,100.00
Room & Board: $1,400.00
Travel/Meals: $1,500.00
Total Cost: $7,000.00
The program runs from Monday, June 5th through Friday, June 30th. Payment to Johns Hopkins University is due by May 8, 2017.
I feel that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I am thrilled to have been selected to attend this program and I would greatly appreciate any and all donations.
