URGENT APPEAL TO SAVE A LIFE
This GoFundMe was opened to raise funds for Mr Nicholas Ibekwe, a devoted husband and father of four lovely young children who also took upon himself the care of 2 orphan children as well his late sister's twins. Mr Ibekwe is a SICKLE CELL disease patient who had BILATERAL AVASCULAR NECROSIS of both hips. Mr. Ibekwe is 45 years old from Ezimma Aguobu-owa in Eziagu Local Government Area in Enugu State, Nigeria. He has been in constant pain and in-out of hospital since his childhood because of the disease. One of his sisters, Ms. Ifeoma Ibekwe, died at the age of 10 from Sickle cell disease complications. May her soul continue to rest in peace.
Mr. Ibekwe had a hip replacement operation in 2015 after good Samaritans contributed money to pay for the surgery. The operation enabled him to walk again after being bedridden for almost two years.
As a result of this illness, he has exhausted all the money he was using for his business, fridge repairs and sales. Unfortunately, he cannot continue with his business as he has developed loosening in that hip that was operated on in 2015. He is currently confined to bed and needs assistance with some of his personal care.
According to the Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon that is handling his case, ‘I have reassessed him and I think he has a significant problem in his right hip and needs a revision surgery at this time. He is billed to have a single or two staged revision depending on whether or not we find any evidence of infection. The blood parameters presently do not show any evidence of infection and so I have told him that we would proceed to plan for a single stage replacement and may turn out to a two stage, if need be’. Mr. Ibekwe desperately needs our help to enable him to undergo this revision hip replacement operation as recommended by the consultant handling his case. The operation is estimated to cost 3,395,500. 00 Nigerian Naira (appx $ 8,000). I am pleading on behalf of Mr. Ibekwe and his family to all men and women of goodwill to come to the aid of this family at this critical time. Mr. Ibekwe is in serious pain and the family is suffering. His children have all dropped out of school. His wife is seriously struggling to feed the family with her petty trading business and looking after her sick husband as well.
