Derek Kyle's family and closest friends thought it would be most beneficial and appropriate if we created a donation not for the family but for a charity closest to their hearts. The donation chosen by the family is The Blues Project at Cal State Northridge. The Blahut's are CSUN Alumni, current and future students and would love to give back to their community.
Information on The Blues Project:
It is a peer education program dedicated to raising awareness about depression and it's link to Suicide. It is comprised of 60 students who have had their own experiences as loss survivors, surviving suicide, and are still struggling with mental health. This group of students speak to other students about warning signs of depression, reducing the stigma of getting help, and resources in the community for treatment. The students reach approximately 8000 students each semester and host a weeklong event each year titled Beat the Blues Week. The large event is comprised of guest speakers, interactive workshops on various subjects related to mental health and always ending with a candlelight vigil to recognize lives lost by Suicide.

** Any donation, no matter how big or small, will be greatly appreciated by Derek's family. Mental Health not only impacted the Blahut's but it impacts so many others as well. Let's give a chance to help others in our community. Please and thank you!
