Our son suffered a devastating injury on New Years Day. Derek Aul, age 33, was severely injured in a snowmobile accident. His injuries were life threatening with a collapsed lung and burst fracture of the thoracic spine. He has undergone surgery and will be unable to work for up to 6 months.
He is an incredible husband and father of three small children ages 6, 3 and 19 months. Derek is the sole provider for his family. Whenever he has been approached by friends, family and even strangers he has never refused to give a helping hand.
Derek owns his own construction business and currently has no employees which means he is unable to provide for his family during this time. The doctor has informed him he is not to lift anything over 10 pounds for the next 3 months making it impossible to build buildings, do roofs or run heavy equipment which is what his business does on a daily basis.
It may take up to 6 months before he is able to return to normal work.
Now it is our turn to help him as he starts this long journey to heal, go through physical therapy and return to work.
Donations are to meet his medical bills and continue to provide for his family. If donations go over his needs he intends to donate any additional funds to a local charity and is not interested on making money on his tragedy.
