DEC 9th UPDATE FROM DENNIS & LAURA:

Hi Everyone,
We wanted to make sure to reach out ourselves. We’ve tried to write this a few times, but this is a tough post for us to put together. We’re especially struggling with how to get across just how grateful we really are.
We honestly don’t even know where to start. We are completely overwhelmed by everyone reaching out, offering bedrooms, clothes, toys and other donations or a chat. More so, we have just been blown away by all of your generosity. Thank you so, so much!
We’re still in LA with our awesome family due to the air quality in Ventura being worse than down here. Nope, never thought we’d say that either. School is still out and Laura’s work has been incredibly supportive of the whole situation, so we’ve been able to go day by day. We’re just trying to be safe for the kids’ lungs and have been advised to be cautious about Laura’s, too, since she’s pregnant.
Having said that, this has only proven once more how amazing of a community Ventura is and we’re itching to get back home. It’s amazing to see everyone to come together.
The girls have been little troopers; we’re so proud of them! Of course they took it hard when we explained that we’d lost the house, but they’ve been getting on with it, making the most of what they are calling “an awesome adventure” and think having these “slumber parties” is the best thing. A few new clothes and toys probably didn’t hurt either.
At this point we have all that we need for the time being. Since we’ll be couch surfing for a little we’re trying to keep “stuff” to a bare minimum, so while we appreciate offers of more, we have to say no thank you for now. We hope that makes sense. We don’t want to show up at people’s house with too many plastic bags in tow.
All of this support has made this situation so much easier. Just to let you know though, prepare for emotional hugs, calls and/or emails in the not so distant future!
Much love to all of you!
Laura and Dennis

-------------------------------

URGENT: Late Monday night, Dennis and Laura were evacuated from their Ventura, CA home due to the Thomas fire, quickly grabbed the girls and left with what they had on their backs.

They have since learned their home was 100% destroyed and they've lost everything they own and need our help.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone who knows Dennis knows he is one of the most genuine, kind, and selfless people you've ever met. Always willing to help, go the extra mile and lend a hand. Now, it's our turn to help him.

He'd kill me if he knew I was setting this up, but after Dennis and his wife Laura lost their entire home and everything they own in the recent Ventura fire, they need our help more than ever.

The Ventura community is one of the strongest I've ever been a part of and it is amazing to see so many people coming together to help.

With two little girls, and another on the way, we want to make sure they have enough to get back on their feet, put a deposit on a new apartment, buy furniture, clothes and hopefully put some presents under the tree on Christmas morning.

Whether you met Dennis or Laura years ago or just recently, let's show them no matter how close or far away we are that we're all here when it counts!
