Dennis Rollins started working at the golf course in Horseshoe Bay almost 20 years ago. He is currently the assistant agronomist at Summit Rock.
On May 14, 2019 at 5:59am , Dennis was involved in a single vehicle accident while on his way to work. The Onstar report we received indicated Dennis hit a tree going 50mph. Dennis has no memory of what occurred to make his vehicle leave the road.
The accident resulted in extensive injuries. His pelvis was fractured in three places. His spine was fractured in lumbars 1 and 3 and sacrum bone also had multiple fractures. Dennis also suffered a collapsed lung, lacerated spleen, orbital fracture, nasal fracture, crushed left humerus/elbow, broken left foot, damage to his colon and damage to his soft tissue on his hips. The damage to the colon and hips have resulted in wound vacs being placed in both locations. Since the accident, Dennis has been in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit at the St. David's South Austin Medical Center. He now has been through 5 surgeries to repair his pelvis, arm, large intestine, small intestine, and spine. At least one additional surgery is expected to repair the colon. He will be non-weight bearing for 3-4 months and possibly out of work 4-6 months.
Although Dennis is very strong and making progress each day, he misses the being outside and spending time at the golf course. We hope to have him moved to a skilled nursing facility in the next couple of weeks.
Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers. We know Dennis has a long, hard road ahead but with support from family and friends he have faith that he will make a full recovery!
