My beloved brother, Deng Ter Thach passed away on November 24th 2017 in Asosa, Ethiopia. Deng is survived by his wives and 19 young children. At the time of his death, Deng was supporting the educational needs of 43 other orphaned kids in addition to his 19 children through his small business means. After he died, his business partners disappeared with Deng assets.
However, Deng was a brother and a friend to many; he was a good christian and a leader in his community. When Deng died unexpectedly due to a complication brought about by a heart illness, he left a huge gap in his family and community, especially in the lives of these children he supported. He was a man who believed by empowering others through education, and I as his brother Gatluak Ter Thach — being a living testimony of his hard work and unwavering support.
I am asking personally for your help to continue assisting these 62 children that will possibly drop out of school and hardly make it in life if we are not able to meet their school fees’ needs for this year.
I am appealing to you as a friend and a colleague to help me keep these kids in school. Whatever gifts you can give no matter how small or how big will go a great way to impact these children education, and I know I am not alone in this painful moment since I count on you and thank you again in advance for helping me support these children.
To continue with his legacy, a foundation is registered in Tennessee and in Ethiopia to provide scholarships assistance to these orphans and other disadvantaged children across the globe by the name of Deng Educational Orphan Fund (DEOF)
