Demetrio Martinez Medical Aid

Demetrio is a strong Christian man with a good heart. He is always eager to help anyone less fortunate than himself and his motto has always been teaching a man to fish rather than giving him a fish. He has worked tirelessly for years welding high in the air and evangelizing the story of the  large 190 foot cross which stands outside Groom Texas next to Interstate 40. This cross is seen by hundreds of thousands of travelers each year as they drive I-40 between Oklahoma City and Amarillo. For many years Demetrio proudly owned his own Jewelry business in both Pampa and later in Amarillo. Most recently he worked in the oilfield taking care of problems for a friend who is an independent oil producer.
Oilfield work proved physically difficult for his age and as a result, he decided to  move back to Pampa and  transition back to Goldcrafting out of his home. Startups being what they are he was also ready to do what was needed to make ends meet. As a result he took odd jobs as they came.

He was roofing his neighbor's house and accidentally stepped on a nail. Demetrio has diabetic neuropathy which means that he really has no feeling in his feet. He worked the entire day with the nail embedded deeply in his foot and only discovered it when he couldn't remove his shoe that evening. He didn't think the damage was too bad and not wanting to incur medical bills he decided to continue working instead of going to the hospital.

Unfortunately the damage was severe and within a few short days had progressed to gangrene. He is currently in the hospital and they are doing everything possible to save his foot. The doctors have informed him that there are only two outcomes and he is facing a tenuous path to recover:

1.) The foot may respond to treatment and slowly mend itself or if it moves into the bone,
2.) They will be forced to remove his leg below the knee to arrest further destruction from the gangrene and save his life

They told him that they would be able to let us know within the next few days which it will be.

Demetrio has been out of work for months and has no medical insurance. He recently acquired Medicaid, but this will not cover a large portion of the medical bill. In addition, either way Demetrio will continue to be out of work and recovering for a long time to come.

We are asking 2 things in this campaign:
Prayers - We ask for everyone's immediate prayers for healing and that God's will be done in the recovery and rehabilitation, no matter which path the Doctors must take
Donations - to help with both the medical and recovery costs

All donations go directly to Demetrio's wife Dana who will use them to defray medical costs and offset expenses during his recovery.
