Delgadillo Family House Fire
My grandparents’ home along with several others was recently destroyed in an electrical fire and they, along with my aunt and uncle, lost literally everything they had. The only things they were able to make it out with safely were themselves, thanks to my uncle (who is the family’s caretaker) courageously carrying the family out one by one.
My grandfather Porfirio is an amputee missing both legs. Carmelita, my aunt, has cerebral palsy and is unable to perform regular activities such as eating or bathing. They survive off of Social Security Income due to their ailments, and luckily my uncle Pillo is there to provide care for my grandparents and aunt.
As I stated before, they literally lost everything. From my grandfather’s prosthetic legs, to their car, to their clothes.
Money donated would be used to provide the necessities below and hopefully also go towards finding a new home for them, as they could not afford homeowner’s insurance. On top of all of this, their SSI will possibly be defunct due to us having to move them from California towhere we are in Texas.

As anyone could imagine, most of these necessities are incredibly expensive and unfortunately it is only the start of recovering their things. This incident is absolutely devastating for our family and while we are doing everything we can to help, as you all can imagine, losing everything is not easy to recover from.

La casa de mis abuelos junto con varios otros fue destruida recientemente en un incendio eléctrico y ellos, junto con mi tía y mi tío, perdieron literalmente todo lo que tenían. Las únicas cosas con las que pudieron salir a salvo fueron ellos mismos, gracias a que mi tío (que es el cuidador de la familia) llevó valientemente a la familia una por una.
Mi abuelo Porfirio es un amputado al que le faltan las dos piernas. Carmelita, mi tía, tiene parálisis cerebral y no puede realizar actividades habituales como comer o bañarse. Sobreviven gracias a los ingresos del Seguro Social debido a sus dolencias y, afortunadamente, mi tío Pillo está ahí para cuidar a mis abuelos y tía.
Como dije antes, literalmente lo perdieron todo. Desde las prótesis de piernas de mi abuelo, hasta su carro, hasta su ropa.
El dinero donado se utilizaría para cubrir las necesidades que se detallan a continuación y, con suerte, también se destinaría a encontrar un nuevo hogar para ellos, ya que no podrían pagar un seguro de vivienda. Además de todo esto, su SSI posiblemente desaparecerá debido a que tenemos que trasladarlos de California a donde estamos en Texas.

Como cualquiera podría imaginar, la mayoría de estas necesidades son increíblemente caras y, lamentablemente, es solo el comienzo de la recuperación de sus cosas. Este incidente es absolutamente devastador para nuestra familia y mientras hacemos todo lo posible para ayudar, como todos pueden imaginar, perderlo todo no es fácil de recuperar.
