Unexpected Medical Adversity

Donation protected
My name is Delane Gipson and I am humbly asking for help, which is not always an easy thing to do. 5 years ago I broke my hip and had to have a total hip replacement. This past year I have been in crippling pain, even though there was something serious medically going on with me. Unfortunately, work and bills took precedent over my medical condition. During the hard times of excruciating pain, I just tried to keep telling myself "Don't worry, I'll get through it. The pain will go away. It always does." But it never did. Then about 6 months ago, I was having severe pain in my right hip to the point I could barely walk. I went to the hospital and they gave me a cat scan. The results showed 2 cysts in my thigh and fluid around the hip replacement. I was admitted to the hospital immediately and had to have yet another surgery. I was out of work for 5 weeks during this time. I returned back to work and was so grateful the pain finally went away and I was positive and hopeful that the problem was solved.  On December 16, 2017, I went to work and worked a long shift. I came home from work, took a shower, and went outside. All of the sudden, I was hit with the worst pain I have ever felt in my back and stomach. I started shaking, I had a horrible migraine, and I was just laying on my bed praying that the pain would subside soon. After an hour and a half, I went to the hospital and I found out that I was in septic shock. To make matters worse, I have an abscess in an abdominal muscle. Lastly, I had a bacterial blood infection. I was admitted to the hospital immediately. As it turned out, I needed surgery. Unfortunately, my health insurance did not kick in until January 1, 2018. Since this was the case, the hospital refused to do the surgery until at least after that date. I was unable to be discharged from the hospital due to all the infection my body was under. This put me out of work for almost a month before I was even seen by my surgeon who will perform not one, but two more surgeries until my final road to recovery can even begin. Due to the infection that I currently have, I need to have ANOTHER total hip replacement. It isn’t just that simple though. First, I need to have surgery to take a component of the hip replacement out and replace it with a spacer that has antibiotics built inside of it. That component will need to be inside me for 6 weeks until the next surgery can begin. At that point, I will be out of work for about 3 months. I work in the food service industry so I do not have the luxury of short-term disability or PTO. After the 6 weeks, I have to have another surgery. This surgery will consist of taking out the old hip replacement entirely and replacing it with a brand new hip. The recovery time for that is 8 weeks. In that time, I will be transferred to a rehab facility for approximately 2 weeks. Please keep in mind that this is all best-case scenario, if all the surgeries happen without complication. That will be followed by physical therapy and once doctor approved, I will finally be able to go back to work and live my life. Essentially, I will be out of work for a total of 5 months. Unfortunately, when you get sick, the bills still have to be paid. As I previously stated, I do not have any income currently coming in. I will have medical bills piled on top of each other on top of the bills I already have. I would be so grateful if you could help at all. Even $1 would make such a difference in my life. Thank you for taking the time out to hear my story. This is not an easy thing for me to do. It makes me feel so terrible that I even have to resort to asking for help like this. I love you all and God bless.
