Deena Rose Memorial Fund

Deena Rose Ledesma, only 18 years old tragically died Tuesday night February 27, 2018 after being struck by two cars while crossing the street.  According to Valley news "A pedestrian who was struck by two cars and killed as she crossed the road in Menifee on Tuesday evening has been identified as Deena Ledesma, She was pronounced dead about 10:30 p.m. at the scene of the incident, the intersection of Highway 74 and Menifee Road in the Sun City neighborhood of Menifee." This tragedy alone is enough to break a person. Now imagine being her mother and not being able to say your final goodbyes, properly grieve your loss and lay your firstborn to rest. This is the case for Monique Yvonne Garcia who has been incarcerated since 2009.  She only wants to see her daughter one last time and lay her to rest.  Monique has used her time while incarcerated to become a better person.  She has been a role model for other inmates and even facilitated the Parenting from Within and Parenting from behind bars programs for other women to become better mothers.  Monique has used her time to study, attend college and will have her Associates of Arts Degree when she completes two more classes.  She is eligible to apply for an early release program at the end 2018 and has no disciplinary write ups or issues.  She is the lowest custody level and has kept her eyes on the possibility of going to a work program to be close to her two children.  She now has one son living pictured above with Monique.  We are raising the funds for Monique to pay final respects to her daughter and mourn her loss.  Please help us to make this goal a reality.  We expect the cost to travel and attend the viewing and funeral to be close to $5,000.  While this amount appears unsurmountable we believe it is a possibility if each person donates $10.00 we will only need 500 people to reach our goal.  If 1000 people donate $5.00 we reach our goal.  Please do what you can to help us to help Monique see her daughter one last time and bring the entire family together.  Finally, any and all funds will be used for the purpose of transporting Monique to the funeral and any leftover funds will be used for the funeral costs to the family.
