Mother, Caregiver Loses Home

Diedre, known as Deedee by many, is a mother, a caregiver to her own mother, and works as an Operating Room Technician/Surgical Technician at two different hospitals. My name is Taylor Self and I am a co-worker of Deedee's in Houston, TX; I have known her for four years.

Unfortunately, Deedee's home suffered extensive flooding during Harvey and now her, her school-aged son, and her mother are displaced. We need to get them back on their feet. She is known by her coworkers as a giving woman, always doing favors for her coworkers and organizing potlucks. She is known to always bring smiles to people's faces with her youthful spirit and outrageous sense of humor. She was even part of the Harvey recovery relief team at one of her hospitals, where she was sleeping at the hospital while food was scarce despite not having any personal belongings.

I am one of Deedee's coworkers and spent 3 years on night shift working alongside her. I remember nacho nights where she would make amazing nachos for all of us with all supplies and food coming out of her own pocket, and that is just one example of many things. My coworkers and I discussed making her a GoFundMe to return all she has done for us. The money will be utilized for everything from food and basic necesseties to school supplies, home repairs, and medical care for her mother. This money will be withdrawn directly by Deedee.
