Dedicated to the Families of the Mahdia Fire.

It is heartbreaking to have lost so many beautiful young souls in one single tragedy. So many futures unrealised; so many families destroyed; and so much pain.

The realities of education in indigenous communities continues to be a challenge for so many, both educators and young learners. I need not lament to issues that led to this tragedy. It represent a significant loss to the Indigenous Peoples of Guyana and to the nation as a whole to see so many who journeyed through varying and tremendous challenges to obtain a different education swept away in something that is yet to be determine the cause of.

Indigenous peoples go thorugh significant challenges and this tragedy will no doubt bear a significant cost to the families financially, emotionally, psychologically and in many other ways I cannot describe. It is my sincere hope that your goodwill is extended to, at minimum, alleviate some degree of financial burden from the families who will no doubt have to traverse parts of Guyana to deal with a variety of issues, least of all, being the last rites expenses.

Your generosity and support will be most welcomed and distributed directly to the families of the victims.
