Eileen Evans, a 71 year-old St. Louis community organizer, is seeking financial help with unexpected personal medical expenses.
Many St. Louis organizers and activists probably have never met Eileen, but so many of us know about her because of her online presence. And, nearly all of us benefit from her work!
Eileen is one of the co-founders and one of two active admins of the Facebook group “St. Louis Activist Hub,” which, with nearly 5,300 members, is the largest social media-based source of information about events and opportunities in progressive politics affecting the St. Louis region. Eileen is also a personal bridge-builder, connecting individuals and organizations throughout St. Louis to one another to facilitate more impactful political organizing.
Eileen is the reason that many have discovered their way into St. Louis progressive politics – whether they know it or not! She is a part of virtually every email list, newsletter, and Facebook group associated with St. Louis progressive politics and organizing, and she makes it a practice to share their content to The Hub’s thousands of members within 24 hours of receiving it. If you have benefited from an event that you discovered through The Hub, then you very likely have Eileen Evans to thank.
On top of this work, she also maintains a huge email listserv through which she disseminates the same information that she shares to The Hub. Finally, as anyone who has been fortunate enough to befriend Eileen can attest, she is a truly wonderful human being – not to mention an incredibly rich source of information about the history of our region!
After being discharged from the hospital, Eileen received a significant bill, and we are seeking to raise $2,500 to cover these costs. To protect her privacy and dignity, we have refrained from listing further medical details on this page.
