Deckard Boys Hockey fights cancer

Maybe it's best if I start at the end and look back. I was diagnosed with cancer & enlarged spleen last week. I also have been diagnosed with extremely risky anemia. This puts a hold on any type of surgery that requires incisions & removal. My Community Health Cancer team meets Wednesday to put a strategy in place. From there we are looking at 6 months best case scenario of treatments, procedures & therapy. After recovering from being blindsided by this, I started thinking how am I going to support my family if I am unable to work. We have the paperwork for going on short term disability. That process can take 60-90 days before you see financial support. And even then it is a drop in the bucket. Our rainy day (hockey $$$) has been torn apart with copays & out of pocket expenses.
I don't really worry about my journey, I am very concerned Kim & the boys will struggle with running the household. I have been off the grid for quite sometime dealing with both mental & physical health issues.
I am setting my pride aside and asking family & friends to keep us in your thoughts. If you are able to make a small gift it will be put to good use & very appreciated. If you are available to have a phone chat or visit to bring positive energy towards the fight, that is just as important. Anything local friends are able to do for Kim will take away a lot of my stress. If you are in position to reach out to someone hurting, please do...you don't how lonely you feel during these times unless you have been through it.
I am going to continue to do my best as a husband, father & friend. I am going to fight this & win. I need you. We need you. I want to minimize the distractions this will create for Kim & the Deckard boys. If you are willing to be part of my support team, please get involved.
