Well, this is something I never thought I would do. Of course, I also didn't really think I would be facing a cancer recurrence again either. I only am offering this page as an option for the folks who have asked how they can contribute. Your love, thoughts and prayers mean the world.
This winter, the markers we use to watch for a return of cancer began to climb. January's CT scan showed a small tumor. I had an abdominal surgery at the end of April to remove multiple tumors which were positive as a recurrence of Granulosa Cell Tumors, the same ovarian cancer I successfully fought 7 years ago. I have begun 6 rounds of carbo/taxol chemo in an effort to knock down any other tumors which are likely growing but that can't be deteted yet.
Although we do have insurance (thank you Obama Care), we were required to lay out the first 8000.00 of maximum out-of-pocket expenses before the insurance began paying for the remaining bills. I was not eligible for short term disability and 8 weeks off of work to recover from surgery plus the addition of medical bills is taking its toll on our finances. Marsha is working hard full time and is doing an amazing job of taking care of me and our household, but has had to miss work to get me to my appointments on top of everything else.
I am healing quickly and will be able to return to work at the end of June. Although neither of us is comfortable standing with our hands out, we appreciate any love and assistance that is offered at this time. Thank you
