Deborah A Menendez Holloway Memorial Fund

This GoFundMe account is being set up to benefit her 19 year old daughter, Regina Holloway. We are doing this quickly to provide a bridge of economic support for her to handle expenses, insurance, housing, education, and basic needs she will be tackling without the assistance of any parent. Her mom, Deborah, helped her transition to college and worked part-time jobs to make it attainable for Regina to pursue her college degree. 

Deborah Menendez Holloway was a single mom and an elementary school teacher in Jacksonville since 2003. She passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 10, 2021 from Covid-19. Deborah has given of herself throughout her life whether to her students, former students, friends and neighbors. Deborah's purpose was to teach with all the enthusiasm a New York transplant could provide to her students with love, joy and kindness. 

Regina Holloway had an exemplary role model. Regina graduated from Englewood High School in Jacksonville in 2019. She held the crown of Miss Englewood and used that platform to do positive things in her school and community, including the Miss Amazing Grace Pageant which benefited participants with Down Syndrome. She volunteered throughout her adolescence at Love Grove Elementary where Deborah taught for 17 years. One could say Regina grew up in the halls of elementary schools. Regina receive a partial scholarship to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton where she is pursuing a bachelor's degree.

Most children never have to face this struggle till they are grown. Regina has dealt with this tragedy with grace and poise. She showed compassion during news interviews for other front line workers such as Grocery Store employees and Mail Carriers. Her level of need awareness has been focused outwards not inwards. 

We need to provide community support for Regina during this trying time. The decisions about how to pay for college, where to live, finding health insurance that is affordable, getting car insurance, securing a job…all while carving out time to say goodbye to her rock–—her rockstar mom, Deborah Holloway.
