Fighting a Giant-Legal Fees
Donation protected
I am asking for help to fight a Giant - Kaiser Permanente.
After 14 yrs of working for Kaiser Permanente, I was fired. In July 2013 I filled out a form, and answered a question incorrectly. It took 7 months for them to use this against me, I was fired in February 2014. I was never given the opportunity to explain my answer.
I WAS 6 MONTHS FROM LIFETIME MEDICAL BENEFITS WHEN THEY FIRED ME.
Everyone I know agrees that this seems crazy. My manager didn't have any issues with my work - she said she would take me back. If I honestly felt, I had done something wrong. I would accept responsibility and the consequences
I didn't get an attorney right away because I kept thinking that this would work out, I would get my job back. Any reasonable person would see that it is a misunderstanding.
I tried to go through the Union, but they couldn't help me.
The attorney is charging a $10,000 retainer, plus any fees. He said the fees would be for depositions, filing fees, etc. These fees could range from $10,000 to $20,000. (plus he gets 40% of any settlement)
It's no wonder people give up. Who has this kind of money to fight. Especially a big company who has deep pockets.
Any help I could get would be deeply appreciated. If I receive a settlement, I WILL PAY YOU BACK. It is very hard to ask for help, especially in this way.
