We Need Your Help to Raise Edsel Ruddiman From the Dead, Bring Francis Jehl to Life, and Spread the Word About Reverend William Dawe.
Simply Put: We Need Your Help to Preserve History.
We are the Museum Guild of Dearborn. We’ve researched some 342 old homes and buildings in Dearborn’s Arsenal and Riverbend Districts. We discovered that many are historic with rich histories.
Edsel Ruddiman was one of Henry Ford’s best friends. Mr. and Mrs. Ford named their only son after him.
Francis Jehl was Thomas Edison’s lab assistant and was at Edison’s side at the successful lighting of his invention, the light bulb.
Reverend Dawe’s congregation was in Dearborn. He too knew Henry Ford. In fact, he was the president of the “Henry Ford for President Club.”
Altogether, nine researchers have spent countless hours digging into the stories of Ford relatives, associates, local officials and the common man in these two districts.
We have many more stories to tell in the forthcoming book Stories From the Sidewalk. The book features a color photograph of each property along with a short summary of its importance. But, we need your help to raise $8,000 to publish the book. Reasonably priced at $30 per copy, all sales of this hardcover book will go towards the support of the Dearborn Historical Museum.
