Occasionally in your life, you are blessed to know a truly selfless human being who brings a ray of light into any room she walks into. Someone that would give their shirt off their back for you. Someone that would drop whatever it was they were doing, to help you. That is Deane Blasingame – truly one of the most caring and loving persons. Anyone who knows Deane immediately thinks of her booming voice, her infectious laugh, and the abundant love that she gives to anyone she sees.
Her entire life she has taken care of other people and now she needs to be taken care of.
On January 9, 2022 Deane suffered a massive left MCA (Middle Cerebral Artery) Ischemic Stroke that left her with Acute Encephalopathy. When an infarct affects the MCA, cerebral processes such as communication, perception, sensation, and voluntary movements can be impaired. Deane currently cannot swallow on her own, the right side of her body does not work and she is unable to communicate using words. While her prognosis may be poor and she cannot speak or walk, she is communicating through sounds and opening her eyes - we know she is in there and trusting the Lord to heal her!
The road ahead is a long one to say the least, but Deane has a strong faith in the Lord and we strongly believe in the power of prayer – in fact, we have already seen the results as she has come so far over the past couple of weeks. Deane currently does not qualify for a subacute rehab facility, so the family will be making arrangements to move Deane home. After all, home is where the heart is and Deane’s heart is bigger than anyone’s!
Her family is completely devastated and beyond heartbroken, but holds faith in the power of prayer. Deane is strong and a fighter! And we are here to support her!
All donations will go to the following:
- Nutritional needs (she cannot swallow on her own so will need to be fed through a gastrostomy tube (g-tube))
- Medical Bills
- Nurses and Palliative Care - she needs 24/7 total care
- Medical supplies
- Future treatments and therapy (family is praying they can get her into a hospital or university that performs stem cell therapy for stroke victims)
