It provides additional info about how else we will raise funds and why now is the perfect time to refurbish this part of the park.
To help encourage donations I am also running a social campaign called #2020skatedonate . The concept is simple.
1. We ask skaters to film 20 tricks in a session.
2. They post the film on social media and nominate/tag 3 of their mates to take the challenge.
3. They then ask friends/family to donate to our cause.
Anyone can get involved and the tricks can be as easy or hard as you like.

In terms of where the funds will be spent. I have anticipated that the resurfacing will cost in the region of £6,000 and the additional £6,000 will go towards creating small, moveable skate objects. The resurfacing has not been tendered yet but we are partnered with local skatepark designers, Canvas, who are willing provide the skateable forms at minimal cost for this project. They ran a similar project in the Bear Pit recently which was a huge success and helped regenerate the area.
Here is some history of the park.
Built-in the 1978 Dean Lane skatepark sits in the heart of Dame Emily Park in Bedminster, Bristol. Known locally as The Deaner it’s like no other park in the UK. Its crusty DIY transitions are built into a hill making going fast mandatory not optional. The cracks and imperfections make it much tougher to skate than modern skateparks but this has helped create its reputation.
