Dead Tree Books Needs Help!

Donation protected
For five years, Dead Tree Books has been the only bookstore on the South Side. We have been a home for local authors to promote and sign books, a place to find that book you read as a child, and a haven for literacy in a book desert.

Those who have been following us know that we had to close our doors a few months ago. We moved all our stock into storage, and began the hunt for a new home.

We are thrilled to announce we have found one! It is much smaller than our old location, but soon we hope to be reopen, and with your support, thriving in a very community-minded new home.

But we need your help.

The months of being shut down have drained our reserves, and we didn't have a lot to begin with. We have always operated on a very tight, often too-short shoestring. But we have fought to stay open, fought to keep our dream and the South Side's only bookstore alive.

We have been blessed to be shown the overwhelming love and support of the community before, and we could really use it again. The months of having our doors closed have taken a financial toll, as some bills continued to come in while the income slowed. We have also been hit with several patches of personal bad luck, further draining our resources.

We have an opening date of November 6th, just days away. But storage and moving costs money, and we really need your help to get past this hurdle to a new spring at Dead Tree Books.

We believe the community needs a bookstore, needs us. And we need the community.

Books are friends! Help us reopen, so we can help you find a new, or old, friend.

Thank you!
