Gary's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Our Dad Gary Thompson had a massive stroke on October 11, 2017 in Montana. He was fishing by himself. He was thankfully found by another fisherman. By the time he was found and transported to the hospital it was too late to take the medication to reverse paralysis. His left side is where the stroke occurred, so his right side is completely paralyzed. He was in ICU due to swelling on the brain that had to be monitored. He is now on the rehab floor having to go through extensive therapy to learn how to walk and talk again.
Those who know our dad knows he is on 'the GO' all the time. He is self employeed in the Landscaping industry in Oklahoma. Over the years, he has helped so many he knows. This stroke will leave him unable to run his business as needed. Being the 'soul provider' financially for his family, the strain will sure be felt. He is an avid outdoorsman who ventures to Montana (his little peace of happy ) about 3 times a year to fish and hike and be 'ONE with Nature. He is an active grandfather to 4 grandkids ( Landon, Livia, Collin, and Corbin) who look up to him and enjoy his company with all his crazy stories. They have obviously all had a hard time understanding what's going on and the seriousness of his condition.
Our prayer and hope is to provide accommodations needed to make his house wheelchair accessible being ramps and bathroom and for the extensive therapy he will need to continue to get back to a quality of life. We do realize this is a long road, but we are optimistic and hopeful.
